Perseid Meteor Shower Star Party, hosted by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, will begin at 9 p.m. Aug. 11 (weather permitting) at Mingo Creek County Park Observatory, past Shelter 10. Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will host a campfire jam night at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at Shelter 3 in Cross Creek County Park. Musicians who play an instrument are welcome to share their talents. Listeners are also welcome. Those attending should bring a chair or blanket. Light refreshments will be served. There is no fee. Taylor United Methodist Church, 610 Old National Pike, Brownsville, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11-13. Homemade soup and sandwiches, chicken and fries, cabbage and noodles, baked good, coffee and drinks will be available. Clothing, various household items, toys and furniture will be for sale. Takeout orders will be available. Proceeds benefit the church.
Uniform, shoe and accessory sale, sponsored by the Washington Hospital Auxiliary, will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11-12 in the community room at Washington Hospital. Cash and major credit cards will be accepted, and payroll deduction is available for employees of Washington Health System.
