The 4-H Benefit Auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Show Tent at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

The event supports the 4-H program of Washington County, which is one of the largest youth development programs in the country. Money raised by the auction benefits nearly 2,000 youth in 4-H-sponsored programs throughout the year, such as leadership development activities, life-skill programs and regional and state educational competitions.

Among the items to be auctioned off are tickets to the Carnegie Science Museum and passes to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. There also will be store and restaurant certificates, livestock supplies, back-to-school supplies, holiday decorations, gift baskets and a lottery tree.

Donations for the auction are still being accepted. Items can be dropped off at the fairgrounds, or arrangements can be made for pickup.

For more information, call the Penn State Cooperative Extension office of Washington County at 724-228-6881 or email Pam at plp3@psu.edu.
