The holiday lights are on at Peters Township Public Library.

With no snow to be found, Santa Claus had to arrive at Peters Township Public Library in a conveyance other than a sleigh.

And so the friendly folks with the local fire department gave St. Nick a ride to his appointed round: Light-Up Night, heralding the holidays on a chilly but relatively dry Sunday.

The Children’s Choir from the Bible Chapel provided musical accompaniment with a series of seasonal favorites, including songs they will perform when the church’s South Hills campus hosts “Home for Christmas: A Musical Production” at 7 p.m. Friday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Then the lights went on to proclaim “Season’s Greetings” in front of the library, and the lights of a fire engine heralded Santa’s arrival.Everyone in attendance followed him into the building for warmth and refreshments .

Along with telling the jolly man in the red suit what they want for Christmas, children had the opportunity to make a little gingerbread house that they could take home with them.
