The Martha Washington Garden Club continued its tradition of making small Christmas arrangements for nursing home residents, shut-ins and, new this year, hospice patients. Mary Dobich brought the idea to the Martha Washington group several years ago from her previous garden club in New Jersey, and she has since organized the event. Members bring various greenery, coffee mugs and Christmas decorations to make the arrangements. Twenty-three members gathered at Laboratory Presbyterian Church last week to create the arrangements. A total of 115 arrangments were made, with 51 arrangements sent to the Donnell House. Joyce Robinson, a social worker at the Donnell House, and Jean Montgomery Thomas, a volunteer, picked up the arrangements from the church. Garden club members will be deliver the remaining 64 arrangements to other locations. Shown with some of the arrangements, top, are, from left, Sandra Grilli, president of the Martha Washington Garden Club; Jean Montgomery Thomas, Mary Dobich and Joyce Robinson.
