Coding Camp for kindergartners through second-graders will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. every other Thursday, Jan. 12 through May 18. Held in conjunction with PBS KIDS ScratchJr, the program will teach children core coding concepts as they create their own interactive stories and games using PBS KIDS characters. PBS KIDS ScratchJr incorporates PBS KIDS media properties, including WILD KRATTS, WORDGIRL, PEG + CAT and the new series NATURE CAT. As kids snap together colorful programming blocks to make their favorite characters move, jump, dance and sing, they will learn to solve problems, design projects and express themselves creatively. Adult literacy program offers free test preparation for the GED, Civil Service exams and drivers licensing and Life Skills. Also, adults can brush up on their basic reading and math skills for free through the Family Literacy Department, which also offers free after-school tutoring for school-age children. Effective Sunday, All printed copies made from the library’s computers will increase in cost to 25 cents/page. All black and white copies made from the library’s photocopier will increase to 25 cents/page.
Effective Sunday, it will be mandatory to present an identification card when signing up for a Computer User Card. ID cards cannot be expired and must have the following information printed: full name, date of birth, and address.
CitiBooks, a used books bookstore in the lower level of the library, is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
