School registration
Avella Area School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year March 17 and 18. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. Parents must provide the following items during their appointment: birth certificate; immunization records; completed health history form; proof of residency; and court orders for any parent registering a child who requires specific restrictions involving custody or guardian issues. The following immunizations also are required: DTP, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B and chicken pox. During registration, children will undergo developmental screening, reading placement screening and speech and vision tests. Appointments will last from 90 minutes to two hours. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the school at 724-356-2294. Registration packets are available on the school district’s website, http://www.avella.k12.pa.us/, and in the elementary office.
Bentworth School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year March 1-3. Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1; children registering for first grade must be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1. Children who attend kindergarten at Bentworth do not need to register for first grade. Parents must provide a birth certificate, immunization records and two documents of residency. Copies are acceptable. Residency documentation can include a driver’s license, auto registration, utility bills, tax statements, voter registration or evidence of receiving checks from wages, public assistance or Social Security. Registration, testing and health information will take about 30 minutes. Required paperwork is available at www.Bentworth.org. California Area School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year from 9 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. March 17 and 18 at the elementary school. Children must be residents of the school district and be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. Registration packets are available in the school office. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at registration. Bring photo identification, proof of the child’s birth, immunization records and three proofs of residency. Children will take the kindergarten readiness assessment. Registration and the screening process should take no more than one hour.
