Scholarships available from WCCF

The Washington County Community Foundation is accepting applications for the following post-secondary scholarships:

• Clyde J. Tracanna/Washington Rotary Club Scholarship – $3,000 available to McGuffey, Washington and Trinity students for community service.

• Joseph P. Femiani Memorial Scholarship – $1,000, Peters Township students, community service.

• David O. and Sara F. Johnson Family Education Fund – $1,000, McGuffey students.

• Alice Boone Main Memorial Fund – $500, McGuffey students.

• Barry Clark Barto Memorial Scholarship Fund – $500, Burgettstown students, trade school.

• Buckholt Science Scholarship – $500, McGuffey students who are science majors.

• Burgettstown Junior/Senior High Student Council Leadership Scholarship Fund – $500, Burgettstown students active in Student Council.

• Arthur V. Ciervo Scholarship Fund – $500, Bethlehem-Center students.

• Margaret Pitek Ciervo Scholarship Fund – $500, Bethlehem-Center female students.

• Ronald T. Miller Scholarship Fund – $1,000, Peters Township students who are engineering majors.

• Charles Pappas Sr. Scholarship Fund – $1,500, Burgettstown students.

• Visiting Nurses’ Association Scholarship Fund – $6,000, second-year nursing students who are residents of Washington County.

• Curtis Wachter Memorial Scholarship Fund – $500, residents of Washington County who are photography or photojournalism majors.

• Dr. Paul Pipik Fund for Study in the Health Sciences – $850, Bethlehem-Center students who are majoring in health sciences.

• Kirk C. Moninger Fund – $400, Trinity students, National Honor Society, varsity lacrosse.

• Elizabeth Plumer Memorial Scholarship Fund – $1,000, Trinity students who are education majors.

• D. Jack & Geraldine L. Gaido Memorial Fund – $4,000, Chartiers-Houston and Trinity students, or homeschooled students residing in those districts, who are majoring in business, medicine or theology.

• Dave Pew Memorial Scholarship Fund – $500, Peters Township students who are majoring in music or music education.

• Ringgold Alumni Scholarship Fund – $250, Ringgold students.

• Sprowls College and Post Graduate Scholarship Fund – $1,000, Fort Cherry students, with a preference for students who demonstrate a passion for the humanities.

• Kerns Family Scholarship Fund – $1,000, McGuffey students, Future Farmers of America, agriculture major.

• John & Sophie Choratch Scholarship Fund – $25,000, children of Washington County families who are accepted at or attend a post-secondary trade school, college or university, whose parent or guardian is employed or volunteers as a first responder in Washington County; preference given to those students whose parent or guardian has been killed in the line of duty, or who have otherwise been affected by local tragedy

• Burgettstown Lions Scholarship Fund – $1,000, Burgettstown students, community service.

• Megan J. Phillis Scholarship Fund for Academic Excellence – $500, Burgettstown students.

• Black Family Scholarship – $2,000, Avella or West Greene students who are agriculture, education or nursing majors.

• Rebecca Sarah Rogers – $1,000, Washington students who are majoring in education.

• Linda LeFever Scholarship Fund – $1,000, Heinz School of Carnegie Mellon, resident of Washington or Allegheny County.

• Scholarship Fund for the Arts – $500, Chartiers-Houston students who are majoring in the arts.

• Kiwanis Club of Washington Scholarship Fund – $1,000, Western Area Career and Technology Center.

• Ryan Johnston & Vaughn Johnston Scholarship Fund – $1,000, McGuffey students.

• Chapman Family Scholarship Fund – $33,000, students graduating from any high school in Washington or Greene counties who are attending any post-secondary school, including trade and technical schools.

• CAS/Dr. Kim Stacher Scholarship Fund – $1,000, students graduating from any high school in Washington or Greene counties, with preference for former students of the Community Action Southwest Head Start program.

• Olivia Scott Scholarship Fund – $2,000, McGuffey students and students graduating from any other high school in Washington County.

• Chrome Federal Credit Union Ed Orisko Scholarship – $4,500, students graduating from any high school in Washington County.

• Sam & Bev Minor Fund – $1,000, students graduating from a Washington County or Greene County high school, with preference given to students who demonstrate a propensity for entrepreneurialism, who have been employed while attending high school or who have participated in Junior Achievement.

• Christman Family Scholarship Fund – $4,000 available, Washington High School female students who are members of a minority class.

• Hunter Lafe McAdoo Scholarship Fund – $1,000, McGuffey students who are majoring in the field of medicine.

• William L. & Barbara M. Laird Fund – $1,000, McGuffey students who are majoring in elementary education.

Applications must be submitted electronically using the online post-secondary scholarship application available on www.wccf.net. Additionally, students must provide hard copies of their FAFSA student aid report and transcript to the WCCF office at 1253 Route 519, P.O. Box 308, Eighty Four, PA 15330. All components of the application must be received by April 1 for any student to be considered for a scholarship.

To date, the foundation has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships to local students.
