Bioni The Washington County Cattlemen’s Association recently awarded scholarships to five Washington County students who are pursuing post-secondary educations. They are: • Lena Bioni, a sophomore at Penn State University, where she is majoring in agribusiness and horticulture. Bioni is a graduate of McGuffey High School, and her parents are Tim and Lisa Bioni of Claysville. • Darrell Briggs Jr., a sophomore at Muskingum University, where he is majoring in engineering sciences. Briggs is a graduate of McGuffey High School, and his parents are Darrell and Jill Briggs of Claysville. • Maggie Coyne, who attends UPMC Mercy School of Nursing. Coyne is a graduate of Fort Cherry High School, and her parents are Michael and Karen Coyne of Burgettstown. • Makaylee DePetro, a sophomore at California University of Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in psychology. DePetro is a graduate of Avella Area Junior-Senior High School, and her parents are Rob and Becky DePetro of Avella. • Scott Gardner of Washington, a sophomore at Penn State University, Fayette Campus, where he is majoring in accounting. He is a graduate of Brownsville Area High School, and his father is Bill Gardner. Money for the scholarships was raised by auctioning off pies entered in the apple pie contest at Washington County Ag Days in March at Washington Crown Center, through donations and from other events the association sponsors.
