George Washington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution is asking churches, synagogues and spiritual organizations to participate in Allegiance Sunday on July 3.

Allegiance Sunday is a quiet day, not a day of celebration or exhibition. Individuals are asked to reaffirm their fealty and love of country and demonstrate these feelings by declaring their allegiance.

The organization asks that churches, synagogues and spiritual organizations pledge to the flag and/or sing some patriotic hymns.

This is a national project for the Sons of the American Revolution, and churches that participate are asked to mail a copy of their July 3 bulletin to: George Washington Chapter, c/o Gary Timmons, 13 Elm Lane, Wheeling, W.Va. 26003. The bulletins will be tabulated, and a report will be sent to the national society.
