Brownsville Volunteer Fire Company 1, 520 Market St., is conducting its annual fund drive.

Money will be used for equipment, upgrades, firefighting gear and training. The volunteers hold fundraisers throughout the year to support the department.

The VFC is looking to purchase a new mini-pumper in a multipurpose design to handle all types of emergencies. The truck will cost about $200,000.

Last year, the department responded to more than 225 emergencies.
