Mental Health Association, 575 N. Main St., Washington, is in the process of soliciting nominees for “Neighbor” and “Professional” of the year. Nominees should be persons who promote good mental health in a significant way. MHA also has adopted a new category for recognition, the Corporate Citizen of the Year Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize employers and businesses who support those who deal with mental health issues. Nomination forms are available by contacting MHA at 724-225-2061. All nominations are due by Monday. Recipients of the awards will be selected by a special committee of the Mental Health Association Board of Directors. The awards will be presented at the annual dinner May 20 at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg.
South Hills Coin Club will hold its monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park. This month’s program is on Fugio Cents. A 50/50 raffle will be held and prizes for children will be awarded. For more information, call 724-984-6611.
Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation staff will search for salamanders in Mingo Creek County Park as part of the Salamander Tales Program for preschoolers ages 3 to 5. The program will be offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 10 and 11. Program participants will meet at Shelter 6 and will need water shoes or rubber boots. Registration is required; call 724-228-6867.
Fix ‘ur Cat is a nonprofit volunteer group whose mission is to encourage Washington County residents to spay and neuter their cats and any other cats in their care. Cost is $45 to spay or neuter and includes a rabies vaccination and flea treatment as needed. For applications, visit www.Fixurcat.org.
