Jefferson Township Historical Society will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday in the White Church on Fire Road across from the township fire hall. The featured speaker will be Chris Sedlak, a Civil War historian. Sedlak appeared in the movie “Gettysburg” in 1992, worked as a background artist/consultant on the movie “Gods and Generals” in 2001 and in 2010, he was a key contributor and adviser to an artillery display at the Heinz History Center.

Market Street Academy & Performing Arts Center will hold its annual recital May 22 in Christ Church Anglican, 319 Church St., Brownsville. Performers of all ages will include vocalists, instrumentalists and actors. The free recital begins at 2 p.m.; a reception follows the recital. Peters Creek Historical Society welcomes Larry Gallant as its guest speaker at 7:30 p.m. May 23 in Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia. The program is “Mysteries of Ancient Pennsylvania.” Gallant is an avid history buff, a member speaker of the Heinz History Center team, an associate editor of Ancient American Magazine and the author of a forthcoming book titled “Prehistoric Pennsylvania.”

Washington County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services presents the fifth annual Mental Health Awareness Fair “Overcoming Barriers on the Path to Wellness” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 25 at Washington Crown Center, 1500 W. Chestnut St., center entrance near Bon-Ton. There will be refreshments, prize drawings, massage, reiki and art therapy, photo booth and resource tables.
