Memorial Day programs

Memorial Day service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday on the lawn of Lower Ten Mile Presbyterian Church, Amity. The program will feature a parade, recognition of veterans and special music. Refreshments will follow. For more information, call 724-228-1031.

• 6:30 a.m. – Reveille in front of the Legion, followed by breakfast

• 9 a.m. – Service at Claysville Cemetery

• 9:30 a.m. – Parade in Claysville

• 10 a.m. – Service at Perviance Cemetery in Claysville, followed by lunch at the post

Retired Army Maj. Heidi Kavanaugh will be the keynote speaker at the service presented by Brightwell-Daugherty Post 484 at 11 a.m. May 30 in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Fayette City. The line of march will be led by the Post 484 honor guard and will include the Legion Riders, Belle Vernon Area High School band, a World War II military vehicle, Boy Scout Troop 1543, the Fayette City Volunteer Fire Department and local children. If it rains, the program will be moved to Fayette City Alliance Church. A parade will be held at 10 a.m.

May 30

• 8:40 a.m. – Buckingham Cemetery in Deemston

• 8:45 a.m. – Fredericktown Hill Cemetery

• 9:15 a.m. – Honor Roll in Vestaburg

• 9:30 a.m. – World War II Honor Roll, Main Street, Fredericktown

• 9:45 a.m. – World War I Honor Roll in Newton

• 10 a.m. – Milfred Terrace Cemetery in Millsboro

• 10:20 a.m. – Honor Roll in Clarksville

• 10:45 a.m. – Riverfront in Fredericktown, where a wreath will be placed on the Monongahela River to honor all of the servicemen and women lost at sea.

• 10 a.m. – Service at Center Cemetery, Midway. If it rains, the service will be held at the Midway Fire Department.

Memorial Day program will begin at 10 a.m. May 30 in the Bud Allison Memorial Auditorium in Mt. Pleasant Township Community Center, Hickory. Special music will be provided by a bagpiper and the Fort Cherry Junior/Senior High School band. Guest speaker will be Dr. Janet Marquis, assistant program manager of the Survivor Outreach Service of the Army National Guard. Refreshments will be served after the program.

A Memorial Day program will be held at 11 a.m. May 29 in the assembly area of the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Keynote speaker will be Orin Hatton, Office of Finance and Planning, National Cemetery Administration, Washington, D.C.

Honor guards will conduct services May 30 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery at 11 a.m. and Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
