WSO gets in holiday spirit with its ‘Ho Ho Ho’ concert
Washington Symphony Orchestra will keep the holidays festive with its annual “Ho Ho Ho with the WSO” concert, which will be held at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 and 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at Trinity High School.
The concert marks the first time EQT has partnered with the WSO. The company announced a presenting sponsorship for the concert earlier in the year.
The Washington County All-Star Choir, along with the California University of Pennsylvania choir, will join the WSO for choruses from Handel’s “Messiah.”
Students from Bethlehem-Center, Chartiers-Houston, McGuffey, Peters Township and Trinity compose the all-star choir.
“Our holiday concert will feature some of your favorite Christmas selections from the big screen,” said Yugo Ikach, WSO artistic director.
“You will be challenged to believe with the ‘Polar Express,’ spooked by a ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ and laugh through ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas.'”
In addition, children in kindergarten through sixth grade will have the opportunity to enter the WSO’s ornament contest. All entries will be hung on a tree in the lobby, and two winners will be selected, one by a panel of judges and the other by popular vote on the WSO Facebook page. Each winner will receive a gift card. Official entry forms are available at www.washsym.org.
Concert tickets start at $17 and can be purchased online at washsym.org, by calling 888-71-TICKETS, or at the following locations: Citizens Library, Peters Township Public Library and the WSO office, 11 S. College St., Washington. Tickets purchased at the WSO office are by appointment only
