Greene County Department of Recreation will host an Essentially Yours Christmas Gift Workshop featuring essential oils at 6 p.m. Thursday in the upper-level of the 4-H Building at Greene County Fairgrounds. Cost is $5 per person. Kelly Mackey will lead the event and supply information on the benefits of essential oils. Participants will be able to add on “make and take” projects for $2 to $5 per project. Projects include aromatherapy jewelry, essential oil bath salts, peppermint body scrubs, Christmas room sprays and more. Registration is required. Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington, will hold a community dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Menu includes cream chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw or fruit, dessert and a beverage. Brunch With Santa for children in grades 4 and below will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 3 at Brooke Hills Park Clubhouse, 140 Gist Lane, Wellsburg, W.Va. Cost is $5 per plate. Kiwanis Club of Washington invites children 11 and younger to a free breakfast with Santa Claus from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 3 at Penn Commercial Business/Technical School, Oak Springs Road, Washington. Club members will be cooking pancakes and sausage for Santa and his guests. Photo opportunities will be available. Older children and adults pay $5 for the food, juice and coffee or other beverages.
Peters Township Recreation Center will offer two holiday events. Frosty’s Funhouse will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4. Children age 10 and younger can play games, make gifts and write a letter to Santa. Parents must remain with their children during the event. Cost is $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents (per child participating). Lighting of the Christmas tree will follow at 6 p.m. Watch Santa arrive in his fire truck and enjoy the sounds of the season. A visit with Santa, a craft and refreshments will follow in the library. The event is free and all ages are welcome.
Peters Creek Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas open house, “Soup and Stroll,” from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at the historic Enoch Wright House, located on Venetia Road in Peters. Enjoy a meal of homemade soup, bread and dessert in this 19th century museum of westward expansion. Stroll through the home and visit Father Christmas and the Mining Room, then go outside to see the 18th century log cabin hosted by re-enactors of the period.
