BPW raising money for breast cancer awareness
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Washington, in conjunction with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Washington, will sponsor an “Uplifting Designs” fundraiser to benefit breast cancer awareness.
Individuals and organizations have donated creatively decorated bras for the fundraiser. The bras will be on display at several locations through Washington in October. Residents are invited to visit the display and make a monetary vote on their favorite bra design. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Locations and dates are as follows:
• Washington Area Teachers Credit Union, Park Avenue, Washington – today through Friday.
• Washington Farmers Market, South Main Street – Oct. 20.
• Making Strides Walk, Consol Energy Center – Oct. 22.
• Washington Health System Women’s Center, 80 Landings Drive – Oct. 24-28.
For more information about the fundraiser, contact Washington BPW president Jasmine Blussick at washingtonbpw@gmail.com or 724-288-8035.
In addition supporting breast cancer awareness, Washington BPW is supporting domestic violence awareness in October by collecting new or gently used bras that will be donated to Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Last year, the club collected more than 200 bras.
Donations can be given to Washington BPW members, or can be dropped off at the BPW meeting in October. Follow the group’s Facebook page, Washington BPW, for details.
Other collection sites include Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, 331 S. Main St., suite 102, Washington, and the law office of Dorothy A. Milovac, 775 E. Maiden St., Washington.
