The Hope Players will hold a membership meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hopedale United Methodist Church, 237 Church St., Hopedale, Ohio. They will also host “Christmas in the Park” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 5 at Bloomingdale Village Park. Admission is free. There will be more than 25 vendors and crafters, homemade baked goods and jellies and jams, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle. Santa will make an appearance at 4 p.m. with treat bags. Bentleyville United Methodist Church, 712 Main St., will hold a chicken-and-biscuit dinner from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 11 and younger. Takeout orderswill be available.

Substance Addiction Ministry will present “Addiction and Families, Addiction and Society: What is the best response?” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at LeGras Hall, St. Louise DeMarillac Parish, 320 McMurray Road. Angelo A. Papa Jr., JD, will present the program.
Canon-McMillan’s Financial Aid Night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 in the high school auditorium. Charlene Bedillion, associate director of financial aid at Washington & Jefferson College, will speak. Topics will include an overview of financial aid and scholarship resources. Mon Valley YMCA will hold a Mini Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 28. There will be free clinical breast exams provided by Cornerstone Care and Hamilton Chiropractic, mammogram vouchers for the uninsured and underinsured funded by Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh, chair massages and flu shots. Bring a valid health insurance card for flut shots. There will also be light refreshments and door prizes.
Barbecue fundraiser to benefit the Bentworth Community Center building project will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the Bentleyville Volunteer Fire Department parking lot. Food will be provided by Hogfather’s. There will be barbecue sandwiches and dinners, sides and drinks.
Carnegie Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Main St., will hold auditions Oct. 1 for the annual performance of the Nutcracker. Dancers age 5 to 12 will audition at 1 p.m. and dancers 13-years-old and up will audition at 2 p.m. Rehearsals will be held Saturday afternoons.
