Abigail Karmann, a senior at Chartiers-Houston High School, has been awarded the Majora Carter Award by Green Mountain College in Vermont. The college for environmental, social and economic sustainability-based education grants the scholarship to selected students with an interest in the sciences who are preparing to lead communities and the world to a more sustainable future.

Madison Tournay, a sophomore at Burgettstown High School, has been granted a scholarship to attend Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2017 at Lycoming College in Williamsport. Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week is a weeklong economic education program that offers students an inside look at the private enterprise system and the way the market functions. She is a daughter of Katie and John County of Burgettstown and Brad Tournay of McDonald.
