NCAA Night at Canon-McMillan

Dr. Kevin Deitrick and Rick Christensen will speak at NCAA Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 20 in the Canon-McMillan High School auditorium.

The program is geared toward athletes in eighth through 12th grade and their parents or guardians. They will present an overview of academic eligibility and requirements for student-athletes working to obtain Division I or Division II scholarships.

Deitrick is assistant athletic director for student services at Duquesne University, where he works one-on-one with the men’s basketball players.

He is a graduate of Canevin High School, and a 1993 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College with a bachelor’s degree in history and education. He also was a member of the golf team.

Christensen is associate athletic director for administration and compliance at Duquesne University. He began his career working in minor league baseball before transitioning to athletic director of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, and later was a full-time graduate assistant at Temple University.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration, with a concentration in sport management, from Robert Morris University, and a Master’s of Education in sports and recreation administration from Temple.
