John Corbly DAR honors students
John Corbly Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored winners of the Good Citizens Award at Hot Rod’s in Waynesburg.
The high school seniors were chosen by their schools for their dependabilty, community service, leadership and patriotism. Regent Brenda Guthrie and chairwoman Charlene Shuckhart presented each with a certificate, a wallet card and pin.
Students who received awards were:
• Nicholas Headley, son of Doug and Sue Ann Headley of Rices Landing. Headley attends Jefferson-Morgan High School and is a member of the marching band and all-county band, National Honor Society, drama club, school newspaper and Student Council.
• Chase Owens, son of Kirby and Christine Owens of Waynesburg. Owens attends Waynesburg Central High School and is a member of the National Honor Society, academic league, debate team and French club. Owens has served as class officer and is on the varsity football and wrestling teams.
• Hannah Reed, daughter of Robert and Karen Reed of Waynesburg. Reed attends West Greene Junior/Senior High School and is a member of the volleyball, softball, girls basketball and track teams. Reed also is involved in the National Honor Society, school publications and ski club, is a peer mentor and served as class officer.
• Kaleb Wilson, son of Michael and Kristie Wilson of Carmichaels. Wilson attends Carmichaels Area High School and is a member of the varsity academic league, SADD, National Honor Society, envirothon team, school newspaper, Senior Standing committee and chorus. Wilson placed second in the Pennsylvania State DAR Good Citizens Scholarship Essay Contest. He will be honored at the Pennsylvania State Society luncheon in June in Washington, D.C.
