Program focuses on substance abuse

Health care professionals are encouraged to attend Monongahela Valley Hospital’s substance abuse education program at 5:30 p.m. April 19 and 8 a.m. April 20 in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center.

The educational program will feature medical professionals and other experts who will explain the dynamics of substance abuse. Participants will learn about the patterns of harmful use of any substance for mood-altering purposes, with emphasis on the heroin epidemic.

Washington County Coroner S. Timothy Warco and state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township, will speak April 19. State Rep. Justin Walsh, R-Rostraver Township, will speak April 20. Pharmacist Richelle Lehman will speak both days about her personal path to recovery.

Health care professionals who attend will receive three CEU credits provided by Home Instead Senior Care.
