Canonsburg church plans Erie trip
Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 W. Pike St., will host a trip to Lake Erie May 9.
Participants will meet a guide for a day trip through Ashtabula County, Ohio, and visit the Ashtabula Marine Museum to hear about the history of the Great Lakes and Ashtabula Harbor.
Participants will then cross the Smolen-Gulf Bridge, which is the longest covered bridge in the United States at 613 feet long, and travel to Horizons Restaurant for lunch in the glass-enclosed octagonal restaurant on Geneva-On-the-Lake. Participants will then be free to shop in Geneva.
The tour also will include Rees Corner General Store for ice cream at the original soda fountain, operated by the Rees family for over 70 years, and Robinson Apple Barn, a family-owned farm market stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables.
The bus will leave at 7 a.m. from the church parking lot and return at about 7 p.m. Cost is $106 per person. Paid reservations should be received by the church office by April 28. Call 724-745-0800 for more information.
