West Newton Center for Active Adults will take a bus trip Aug. 11 to the Gateway Clipper and Rivers Casino. A lunch buffet and entertainment by Let’s Be Frank with Bo Wagner is included Cost is $92 and includes $20 in free play. Bus leaves the casino at 6 p.m. Mail a check to: West Newton Center, 103 E. Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will hold a public star party Aug. 11 and 12 at Mingo Creek Park Obervatory, Mansion Hill Extension. Safe solar observing begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by night sky observing at 9, weather permitting. Planetarium presentations occur rain or shine beginning at 7:30. Chartiers Township Community Center, Houston, is offering a train trip Oct. 21 to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. The bus leaves the community center at 9:30 a.m. and returns at about 8 p.m. Take a 16-mile train ride through the mountains on the newly restored C&O 1309 Steam Engine. Cost is $99 per person.
