Monongahela Valley Hospital recently honored 134 volunteers who attended its 2017 Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center. The volunteers included men, women, teens and children, who assisted patients and employees in dozens of departments and units, ranging from anesthesiology to food and nutrition services. Others raised money or handcrafted outerwear, blankets, shawls and treatment gowns. Among those honored were members of the Mon Valley Quilters Club, who make Linus blankets that are donated to the hospital. Members include, seated, from left, Elaine Harmon, Shirley Kobelak and JoAnne Hoffman, and standing, Jackie Ingram. The youngest volunteers recognized were members of Girl Scout Troop #52425 of Finleyville. The girls conducted a community collection for MVH. Other groups that were recognized included “Ask Me” greeters; on-call chaplains; members of Epiphany of Our Lord of Monessen, First Christian Church of Charleroi, Linwood Lutheran Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Monongahela and Our Lady of the Valley of Donora; Victory Hill Ladies Auxiliary; MVH’s safety team; Zonta of Washington County.
