According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, licensed food establishments must employ one supervisory employee who has successfully completed a food safety training class.

Completing the necessary training and passing the associated exam brings licensed food establishments into compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Food Employee Certification Act.

To help food establishments meet this requirement, Penn State Extension is offering a Food Safety Training Course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 5 and 12 at the Washington County Penn State Extension office. The examination will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 12.

Course fee of $185 per person covers the cost of the ServSafe course book, instructional materials and refreshment breaks. Registration is required by visiting extension.psu.edu/food-safety/events. For those without internet access, or for more information or a brochure, call the Penn State Extension office at 724-837-1402.
