LeMoyne Community Center and the Washington Wild Things will commemorate the 70th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball at Thursday’s 7 p.m. game. Commemorative T-shirts will be sold at the game.
The 17th annual One Voice Music Festival 2017 will be held Friday through Sunday at Victory Life Church, 590 Steubenville Pike, Paris. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be music for all ages, concessions, children’s activities, and prayer and teaching ministries. One Voice Kid Zone will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the church grounds. The event will include games, crafts, a puppet show, hayrides, balloon art, live animals, s’mores and snowcones.
An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at First Christian Church, 615 E. Beau St., Washington. The menu will include spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, salad, Italian bread, drink and homemade dessert. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children 4 and under are free. Takeout will be available.
Romanian Orphan Choir from the Caminul Feliz Village Orphanage in Oradea, Romania, will perform at 5 p.m., Tuesday in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center at Waynesburg University. The concert will include a variety of music, including classical, gospel and Romanian folk tunes in English and Romanian. Admission is free. Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will hold “Through a Bug’s Eye” for preschoolers at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 5 and 6 at Mingo Creek Country Park. Children will go on a short walk to search for insects, and a bug race will be held. Meet at Shelter 3. Dress for the outdoors. A change of clothes is recommended. Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer Yoga in the Park at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Mingo Creek County Park, Shelter 10. This is an introductory class led by a certified yoga instructor, but all skill levels are welcome. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel. Fee is $5. Registration is required; call 724-228-6867.
The state Insurance Department will hold a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Western Allegheny Community Library, 181 Bateman Road, Oakdale, to discuss health insurance rates facing individuals and small groups. The meeting will allow people to learn more about the rate review process and provide an opportunity for feedback on requested rates for health insurance. A department liaison also will be available to discuss the insurance market with residents.
Angel Ridge Animal Rescue announces its second annual Mutt Strut to be held Sept. 16 at the rescue’s 50-acre facility in Chartiers Township, 390 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington, PA 15301. The Mutt Strut is a two-mile walk on the property. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Cost is $20 for one dog walked and $25 for two dogs. Participants will receive a T-shirt and dogs will receive a treat bag. The event will include refreshments, a Chinese auction, an agility course and other games and entertainment.
