Wheeling Film Society announces new season offerings
The Wheeling Film Society has announced its sixth annual season of screening-discussions of classic Hollywood films.
John Whitehead, professor of film studies at Wheeling Jesuit University and author of “Appraising the Graduate: The Mike Nichols Classic and Its Impact in Hollywood” and “Mike Nichols and the Cinema of Transformation,” will serve as host for the screenings and conversations.
All films begin at 7:30 p.m. at Townsgate Theatre, and all discussions begin at noon at Ohio County Public Library. The schedule includes:
• Sept. 15 – “Singin’ in the Rain,” directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly; discussion is Sept. 19.
• Nov. 10 – “Annie Hall,” directed by Woody Allen; discussion is Nov. 14.
• March 9 – “Vertigo,” directed by Alfred Hitchcock; discussion is March 13.
• April 20 – “A Space Odyssey,” directed by Stanley Kubrick; discussion is April 24.
All programs are free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Parental guidance is recommended for all screenings and conversations.
