MVH flips the switch on holiday lights
Monongahela Valley Hospital flipped the switch on their holiday decorations on Nov. 20 during the 33rd Annual Light-Up Night. Members of the community gathered around the MVH campus to watch the lighting of the two-story tree and several acres of decorations throughout campus.
“I look forward to this event every year because it truly is the start of the holiday season in the Mon Valley,” said Louis J. Panza Jr., MVH’s president and CEO. “Light-Up Night is an opportunity for all of us to gather as a community. It is a time for our employees, physicians, board members and volunteers to welcome our friends, family and neighbors to enjoy fellowship on our campus.”
The moment of illumination came when two children, Emily Jackson and Mia West, flipped the giant switch to turn on all of the lighted decorations. The children were chosen at random from among MVH employees’ children and grandchildren, ages 5 to 10.
The Ringgold High School Razz-Ma-Tazz entertained the crowd before the lights were turned on. The festivities continued when Mr. and Mrs. Claus made a visit to the hospital’s campus bringing a toy for all the children in attendance.
Throughout the evening, members of the Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources sold baked goods and hot dogs. All of the interior and exterior decorations were produced by Joseph’s Nursery and Garden Center in Monessen.
