Monongahela decorating contest winners announced
The Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation (MARC) announced the winners in its first Christmas Decorating Contest, sponsored by Community Bank, during the December meeting.
The contest was open to residents and businesses in Monongahela in Washington County, New Eagle and Carroll Township with a 15063 zip code.
Homes and businesses could have been entered by the owner or an admirer through the MARC Facebook Page, email or written registration form.
The winners, by category, are:
- Best Overall Display – Darwin Levkus, 40 Decker St., Monongahela
- Clark Griswold – Tim Snyder, 1229 Fourth St., Monongahela
- Charlie Brown – Alex and Anthony Belluso, 1206 Thomas St., Monongahela
- O Holy Night – Scott Bellavance, 1107 Keenan Road, New Eagle
- Best Neighborhood Block – Driftwood Drive, Carroll Township
- Martha Stewart – Branden Stotka, 1615 Fourth St. Ext., Carroll Township
- Norman Rockwell – Deanna and Hosie Cook, 509 Fourth St., Monongahela
- Best Store Front Display – Dr. Stephanie Wehrle, Davies Family Dentistry, 1117 W. Main St., Monongahela
MARC thanked the 43 entrants, Community Bank, Zimmer Printing of Monongahela, Grilli’s Studio of New Eagle and The Sign Guy of Charleroi. Businesses that helped to collect the entry forms were Hill’s Restaurant of New Eagle, Sparkles by Shell, Devore Hardware, Little Coffee Shop, Community Bank of Monongahela and Cox Market of Carroll Township.
Independent judges from Allegheny and Washington County were asked to rate the entries in five areas within the category. Judges visited the displays during the week of Dec. 11.
Due to the community participation, there are plans to hold the contest next year and increase the number of categories. For more information, visit the MARC Facebook page.
