Dr. Louis C. Tripoli, son of Dr. Charles and Rita Tripoli of Washington, was promoted by the U.S. Navy to the rank of rear admiral (lower half) in a ceremony at the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. Tripoli is a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve and was recently on active duty. The Navy has assigned him duties as deputy commander of Navy Medicine East, headquartered in Portsmouth, Va. Retired Rear Adm. Edward A “Sonny” Masso presided over the ceremony. Tripoli’s wife and children presented him with his admiral shoulder boards and cover, and his father, a former Navy officer, and mother presented his flag. Masso presented Tripoli with the Meritorious Service Medal.
