School registration
Avella Area School District will hold kindergarten registration March 30 and 31 for the 2017-18 school year. To be eligible, children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. The following items should be brought to registration: birth certificate, immunization records, completed health history form, proof of residency and court orders. Those who are new to the district are asked to register with the township in which they reside.
During registration, children will be assessed in the following areas: developmental screening, reading placement screening, speech and vision. Children also will meet with one of the kindergarten teachers. Parents should set aside one-and-a-half to two hours for the registration process. All registration sessions will be made by appointment only. Call the school at 724-356-2294 to schedule a date and time. Registration packets can be found on the school district’s website or picked up at the elementary school office.
California Area School District will hold kindergarten registration March 30 and 31 at California Area Elementary School. To be eligible, children must be residents of the school district and be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. Registration packets are available in the school office.
Three proofs of residency must be provided before a child can be registered. Children must accompany parents or guardians to registration, and photo identification, proof of the child’s birth and immunization records must be presented. Children also will take the kindergarten readiness assessment. Appointments will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the exception of lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. The registration and screening process should take no more than an hour.
