Waynesburg Lions Club selected Sarah Bish and Andrew David Elsenheimer as its Students of the Month for January.

Bish, daughter of Matthew P. and Mary E. Bish of Waynesburg, has a 4.0 grade-point average at Waynesburg Central High School.

She is a treasurer of the creative writing club and a member of the reading team, marching and concert bands, library club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society and flute ensemble, for which she arranges music.

She previously participated in drama club, choir and Student Council.

Bish was nominated for the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence, selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars and was invited to the 2015 National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Health Care.

She was selected for the STEM Award as a sophomore and the Challenge Program, and has received the A.B. Miller Scholarship to attend Waynesburg University.

She is employed at Wendy’s and enjoys writing, reading, studying Japanese, playing flute and calligraphy. She also is a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Elsenheimer, son of Jim Elsenheimer of Washington and Kimberly Elsenheimer of Waynesburg, has a 3.73 grade-point average at Waynesburg Central High School.

He is a member of the Academic League, National Honor Society, art club, drama club, library club, physics club, reading team and concert choir, and is a class officer.

Elsenheimer also is a member of the West Virginia Flyers Indoor Track Club and the high school’s cross country team. He was named all-county in cross country.

He volunteers at Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation in Waynesburg, is involved with the Pittsburgh Project and has taken a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with First Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg.

During the summer he works for the Greene County Parks and Recreation Department’s day camp and pool, and is a referree with the youth soccer league.

Elsenheimer enjoys art, listening to music, watching movies and reading. He would like to attend art school to major in illustration and art history.
