Applications sought for Young Artist Competition
The Washington Symphony Orchestra is looking for music students who are residents of Washington County to enter its annual Young Artist Competition.
The competition is open to classical vocalists or instrumentalists who play brass, harp, percussion, piano, strings or woodwinds.
Students who audition must be prepared to play or sing one movement of a standard repertoire piece for solo and orchestra. An accompanist is required for the audition.
Deadline to submit entries is Wednesday, with auditions for finalists scheduled for Feb. 22 at Trinity High School.
The winner will receive a $1,000 prize and have the opportunity to play with the WSO during its “Irish Eyes” concert May 6.
