School registration
Bethlehem-Center School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year March 16 and 17 at the elementary school. Registration appointments and registration packet pickup begin March 1 in the elementary office. Children must be 5 years old on or before July 1, 2017, to enter kindergarten.
Burgettstown Area Elementary Center, 100 Bavington Road, will hold kindergarten and first-grade registration for children entering school for the first time in the 2017-18 school year from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2:30 p.m. as follows:
• March 22 – children whose last names begin with A to M.
• March 23 – children who last names begin with N to Z.
Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 to enter kindgarten. Any questions regarding age requirements should be directed to the elementary principal by calling 724-947-8150.
Parents must bring the child’s official birth certificate, immunization records and three forms of residency verification. Registration will not be accepted unless all records are furnished. It is not necessary for children to accompany parents or guardians to registration.
Pennsyvlania state law mandates the following minimum immunization requirements for all students entering school for the first time:
• Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine;
• A second dose of measles vaccine, preferably given as measles, mumps and rubella on or after the first birthday;
• A fourth dose of tetanus and diphtheria vaccine;
• Three doses of polio vaccine;
• Two doses of chicken pox vaccine, history of disease or lab test.
Physical and dental exams must be completed by the first day of school. Required forms will be given at registration. Any parent registering a child who requests specific restrictions involving custody or guardian issues must present an official court order defining those restrictions.
