West Greene Lions honor two students
West Greene Area Lions Club recently honored two students, Rodney C. Parson and Sierra Pettit.
Parson is vice president of the West Greene Future Farmers of America Chapter, and has been selected as a state speaking finalist and regional star Keystone-Degree recipient. He also is a member of 4-H, serving as an officer in three clubs, and exhibits livestock.
Parson is a core team member and secretary/treasurer of West Greene’s engineering club, and an active member of the National Honor Society. He also has completed community service activities through his church and with 4-H, FFA and NHS. He plans to major in agriculture and engineering at West Virginia University.
Pettit is involved in 4-H clubs with market steer, market lambs and goat, pig and beef breeding. She is president of West Greene’s Future Farmers of America Chapter and has received many academic honors, including the Star Greenhand Award, Livestock and Dairy Evaluation Award and state FFA degree.
Pettit is a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and West Greene National Honor Society. She has volunteered at the Greene County Humane Society, and works with Fairview United Methodist Church, helping with its Thanksgiving outreach program and Operation Christmas Child.
She plans to study agricultural education and animal science at Penn State University. Her parents are Nicole Jones of Graysville and Doug Pettit of Holbrook.
