Meals on Wheels of Peters Township needs volunteer drivers this winter.

Training is provided, and schedules are flexible. Drivers can volunteer once a week or every other week, on a seasonal or year-round basis, or as an “as-needed” substitute. Drivers pick up meals from the kitchen at the Peters Township Fire Department weekdays at 10:30 a.m., and are finished with their routes about 12:30 p.m.

Meals on Wheels will not deliver if road conditions are too treacherous. Clients are provided with emergency “blizzard bags” or extra meals in advance to prepare for closures.

The program has delivery routes in a variety of communities, including Peters Township, Canonsburg, Houston, Lawrence and parts of Eighty Four, Finleyville, Bridgeville, South Fayette, Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair.

For more information or to volunteer, call 724-969-1000, email mowpt1@verizon.net, or stop by the fire department weekday mornings.
