School registration
Church of the Covenant Preschool, 267 E. Beau St., Washington, will accept registration for the 2017-18 school year from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at the preschool. Classes are offered for 3-, 4- and young 5-year-olds. A transition class for young 5-year-olds who are not ready for kindergarten also is available four days per week. McGuffey School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year for children who will be 5 years old before Sept. 1 as follows:
• Claysville Elementary – March 9 and 10. Call 724-663-7772 to schedule an appointment.
• Joe Walker Elementary – March 8. Call 724-222-3061.
Various screenings will be conducted with children, and parents will complete all of the documents needed by the school to complete the registration process.
Kindergarten orientation will be scheduled in August. At that time, children and parents will meet the teachers, building principals and other school personnel. Everyone will have an opportunity to tour the building and ride a school bus.
