Jameson’s Army plans heart gala
Jameson’s Army will hold its sixth annual Green Heart Gala April 7 at the Lemont Restaurant on Mt. Washington.
The nonprofit organization was co-founded by Danielle McKain of Cecil, whose son, Jameson, was born with a heart condition known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He has had six open-heart surgeries, and received a heart transplant when he was 11 months old. Jameson is now 6 years old.
Proceeds from the event help Jameson’s Army:
• Provide monthly drops of food, drinks and other necessities for families on the heart floor and cardiac intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC;
• Sponsor five “Meals from the Heart” for families on the heart floor at Children’s Hospital;
• Provide therapeutic heart pillows for the cardiac intensive care unit;
• Provide stuffed animals for patients attending the heart cath lab at Children’s Hospital;
• Provide support to other local nonprofits that support Children’s Hospital families.
• Sponsor two people for the Healing of the Heart Retreat.
Tickets are $100 per person, and sponsorships up to $1,500 are available. Organizations also are welcome to donate items for raffles that will be held throughout the event.
