The National Council on Independent Living and the Craig Neilsen Foundation have granted $24,500 to Tri-County Patriots for Independent Living’s Path to Empowerment for Consumers with Spinal Cord Injuries.

TRIPIL is one of five projects in the country funded by this collaboration.

“We are so excited about what this means to us,” said Kathleen Kleinmann, chief executive officer of TRIPIL. “We appreciate the generosity of NCIL and the Craig Neilsen Foundation.”

The project will focus on people with spinal cord injuries who are in the UPMC Mercy Hospital SCI unit as well as other regional facilities. TRIPIL staff will regularly visit these units to explain the services and options available to people with SCIs.
