Elijah Ellerman, a 2013 graduate of Washington High School, was inducted into the Naval Academy Class of 2021 on June 29, and will begin six weeks of basic midshipman training as part of Plebe Summer. Ellerman served as a U.S. Marine from November 2013 to June 2017 before going to the Naval Academy. He served two years overseas, was Marine of the Quarter in 2015 and was meritoriously promoted to corporal in September 2016. Ellerman was denied entry into the Naval Academy three times before getting accepted on his fourth application.

U.S. Air Force Airman Adam J. Wagenhoffer graduated with honors from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Wagenhoffer is a 2016 graduate of South Fayette High School, and his parents are Joseph C. Wagenhoffer of Bridgeville and Marybeth Delligatti of Pittsburgh.
