Stanek – 95 years
Violet Stanek, formerly of Bentleyville and Washington, will celebrate her 95th birthday with a family dinner at the Union Grill in Washington.
She was born July 14, 1922, in Primrose, Pa. Three of her siblings are deceased: Mary Bozek Tolzda, Sophie Bozek Ewaskey and Frank Bozek. She is the last surviving member of both her husband’s (10 siblings) and her own family.
Her husband, Joseph E. Stanek Sr., passed away 10 years ago. They were united in marriage for 67 years.
Her children are Joseph (Linda) Stanek Jr. of Jeannette, Carol (Herb) Snyder of Washington, and Diane (Frank) Oswald of Warren, Ohio. Her son, Edwin (Roberta) Stanek of Pleasant Hills, is deceased.
Her grandchildren are Gavin and Eric Stanek of Arizona, Stacey Stanek-Byars of California, Denise and Rob Stanek of Pleasant Hills, Kurt Snyder of Crofton, Md., and Tim Oswald of Warren, Ohio. Grandsons Michael and Mark Stanek are deceased. She also has 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stanek lived her entire life in Washington County along with being a lifetime member of Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville. She has enjoyed her family, dancing, traveling and bingo all her life. She also was an exemplary cook and baker, known for her nutrolls.
