New Freeport fire hall will host a country music show from 7 to 10 p.m. today. Common Ground will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. and Pat Henderson will perform from 9 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5. The show is sponsored by New Freeport Ladies Auxiliary.
West Newton Library, 124 N. Water St., will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and July 29 in the Plummer House. There will be three rooms filled with childrens, cookbooks, non-fiction, medical, sports, gardening, carpentry, history, photography, poetry and self help books.
White Oak American Legion Post 701, 2813 Capital St., will sponsor oldies dances from 7 to 11 p.m. Aug. 5 and 19, featuring music from the 1950s and early 1960s. A 50/50 drawing will be offered. Admission is $5 per person. Proceeds benefit veterans programs. For more information, call 724-984-6611.
Greater Washington County Food Bank will present An Evening Cruise on the Pike from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at 909 National Pike West, Brownsville. The event will include music, food, a 50/50 drawing, Chinese auction, door prizes, bingo and shopping at the Country Thrift Market. Car registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. Dash plaques will be given to the first 25 people who register. Entry fee is $5. Donations to the GWCFB will be accepted.
