Canonsburg Hospital is hosting its first Child Safety Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Families are invited to the hospital grounds for a day of fun, education, and prizes. Each family attending will be given a free first-aid kit, and hospital staff will distribute more than 300 bicycle helmets. There will be free food and nine bikes will be raffled off. The event also will feature a LifeFlight medical helicopter, “touch-a-truck” emergency vehicle demonstrations, a SWAT team vehicle, an FBI surveillance truck, a team from the Carnegie Science Center making ice cream from liquid nitrogen, a visit by the Pirate Parrot and a chance to win Pirates tickets.

To celebrate Washington High School’s 150th graduating class, alumni are invited to reminisce about their time as a Prexie during festivities in the high school parking lot, 201 Allison Ave., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Picnic lunches will be available. Current students will give tours of the high school, where alumni and guests will see displays of student artwork and informational displays on the athletic highlights of the past year, as well as historical displays. Musical entertainment, a bounce house, dunk tank and prizes will add to the outdoor festivities. Admission is free.

The Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon meeting June 13 at the Charleroi Elks Club, 301 Fallowfield Ave. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. and the program will conclude at 1 p.m. Keynote speaker will be John LaCarte, a MonValley entrepreneur who recently partnered with Jon King, great grandson of the Stoney’s Beer founder William “Stoney” Jones, and acquired the right to brew and sell Stoney’s Premium and Stoney’s Light Beer. Tickets are $16 per person for members and $18 per person for non-members. Reservations are required by calling the chamber office at 724-483-3507, or e-mailing members@mvrchamber.org. Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Pirate Adventure preschool program from 10 to 11 a.m. June 15 at Peters Lake Park. Children ages 3-5 years can explore the lake for natural treasures, create a craft and search for Captain Pete’s hidden treasure. Cost is $5 for members and $8 for non-members (per child).
