The Rotary Club of Monongahela recently recognized six Ringgold High School seniors as Students of the Month.

They are Brennin Fallenstein, Samantha Fowkes, Harrison Hubert, Tori Sevick, Lauren Suppo and Noah Trunzo. Students are selected based on excellence in any one or more of the following areas: academics, athletics, arts or community service.

• Fallenstein, son of Fred and Kelly Fallenstein of Finleyville, served as vice president of the Ringgold student section, “The Rampound,” and was a member of the National Honor Society, Relay for Life and the Outdoor Adventure Club. The community service project that was most meaningful for him was placing wreaths on graves at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Fallenstein plans to major in engineering at Robert Morris University.

• Fowkes, daughter of Sally and Larry Fowkes of New Eagle, participated in Interact, Relay for Life, Outdoor Adventure Club, Foreign Language Club and The Future is Mine Club. After school, she worked at Cox Market. Her favorite community service activity was Toys for Tots because she enjoyed helping “make little kids happy.” Fowkes plans to major in engineering at West Virginia University.

• Hubert, son of William and Kathy Hubert of Monongahela, enjoys photography and regularly took photos for school activities, including the yearbook. He enjoys volunteering at Mingo Creek County Park, where he has helped clear overgrown paths, install pipes and pick up trash. In his spare time, Hubert practices working with Maya, a computer animation and modeling software program, in preparation of attending Shawnee State University for game design.

• Sevick, daughter of Ken and Kelli Sevick of Monongahela, was a majorette in the Ringgold marching band for four years and also was a dancer. She participated annually in the school musicals, and played “Morticia” in the school’s most recent production of “The Adams Family.” Her favorite role was Jane in “Tarzan,” which she performed her freshman year. Her favorite community service activity was packing meals for disadvantaged people in Haiti. Sevick plans to attend Liberty University to major in elementary education and minor in music.

• Suppo, daughter of Jennifer and Del Suppo of Donora, enjoys painting, for which she won a National Gold Medal from the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. Suppo participated in Relay for Life and tennis. Her favorite community service activity was volunteering at Monongahela Valley Hospital, where she worked closely with patients and staff. Suppo plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in neuroscience. She would like to become a doctor who specializes in women’s health.

• Trunzo, son of Thomas and Rosemary Trunzo of Monongahela, participated in track and field, golf, student government, Relay for Life, Students in Action, Science Olympiad and was secretary of the Interact Club. Trunzo is an altar boy at his church, where he also teaches Sunday school. The community service activity he enjoyed most was volunteering at the annual Mingo Creek Covered Bridge Festival. Trunzo plans to major in neuroscience at Washington & Jefferson College.
