Waynesburg Lions name top students
Waynesburg Lions Club has named Holly Grainger and Zack Yenchik Girl and Boy of the Month for February as selected by the faculty at Waynesburg Central High School.
Grainger is a senior who has a 3.9 grade-point average. She is a member of the band, choir, drama and French clubs, Academic League, The Future is Mine, flute and visual ensembles and National Honor Society.
She was named to the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association’s District Band in 2015 and Greene County band and choir in 2015 through 2017. Grainger lettered in marching band, was on the team that was named most outstanding visual ensemble at the 2016 Apple Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., and was on Hometown High-Q. Grainger also dances at Time to Dance with Kel & Co.
During the summer, she works at the concession stand at Alpha Aquatics. She plans to study speech-language pathology and theater at the College of Wooster. Her parents are Sabrina and Steven Kelly Murdock of Waynesburg.
Yenchik is a senior with a 4.0 grade-point average. He is a two-year letterman on the soccer team and a member of The Future is Mine, drama club, Academic League, physics club, National Honor Society, library club and the World Affairs Institute for student leaders. He has received highest honors throughout high school.
Yenchik also is a volunteer for Greene County Youth Soccer, and during the summer, he is a concessions worker for the Greene County Department of Parks and Recreation. Yenchik enjoys playing guitar and video games, and studying history, music and astronomy.
He plans to pursue a degree in a STEM-related field at a four-year university. His parents are Lori and Randy Yenchik of Waynesburg.
