Samantha Lambeth

West Greene Area Lions Club has named Samantha Lambeth and Daniel Salai as its outstanding students.

Lambeth, who is a senior at West Greene High School, has been a member of the Greene County 4-H since 2013, participating in goat, swine, horse, rabbit and dog clubs. She has held many offices throughout 4-H and Future Farmers of America, including vice president, secretary and treasurer.

She received the Keystone Degree through FFA in January, and won the secretary award for 4-H horse club in 2016. Lambeth also won Grand Champion Market Goat and Supreme Champion Doe at the Jacktown Fair in 2014.

Lambeth is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish club, prom committee and rifle team. She also is a member of Nineveh United Methodist Church, where she assists with Sunday school, and enjoys participating in community service. Lambeth has been accepted at Waynesburg University, where she plans to major in early childhood and special education. Her parents are Kurt and Jane Lambeth of Sycamore.

Salai is a member of the National Honor Society, West Greene High School concert and jazz band, woodwind captain of the marching band, BotsIQ team and the academic league. He participated in the all-county band and aspiring architects competition, and is president of the engineering club.

Salai is a member of Boy Scout Troop 1017 in Prosperity, where he was named a senior patrol leader in 2016, and is a Life Scout working on his Eagle Scout project. He is a patrol leader for council contingent and attended the BSA National Jamboree, and he is a senior staff member of the National Youth Leadership Training for Laurel Highlands Council.

He also is involved with the Civil Air Patrol as a member of the Washington Composite Squadron 601 and is a cadet senior master sergeant. He received the Jimmy Dolittle achievement ribbon and was named Squadron 601 Cadet of the Year in 2016. Salai is a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and youth group, and has been involved with Samaritan’s Purse shoe boxes, Memorial Day flag maintenance on graves at four local cemeteries, Wreathes Across America, National Honor Society blood drives and weekend food backpacks at West Greene.

He plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology and major in mechanical engineering. His parents are Michael and Carol Salai of Wind Ridge.
