Peters Township Public Library is offering free and low-cost computer classes from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. most Tuesdays on a variety of topics that will help residents connect with informational resources related to employment, genealogy, social media, 3-D printing technology and more.

Registration is required at the library’s circulation desk the day before the class, and payment must be made at that time for classes with a fee. Basic mouse and keyboarding skills are required.

Classes include:

• 3-D Design and Printing, April 4 – Participants will learn about 3-D printing technology and fun objects that can be created by downloading, slicing, preparing and printing. Cost is $5.

• Computers 101, April 11 and May 23 – Participants will become familiar with a computer and the internet. The class is free.

• Genealogy Research, April 18 – Participants will learn how to use the library’s resources to help them search their roots. The lesson covers how to use the Heritage Quest database, Ancestry Library Edition and Google. The class is free.

• Word Processing 1, April 25 – The class includes creating, naming and saving documents, working with text and printing options. Cost is $5.

• Word Processing 2, May 2 – This class includes indents, tabs, tables, automating tasks, spell/grammar checks, page numbers, styles and headers/footers. Cost is $5.

• Word Processing 3, May 9 – This class includes templates, email, mail-merge and inserting graphics. Cost is $5.

• Beginner’s PC toolkit, May 16 – Participants will learn how to capture content, work with directories, access simple-to-use programs and learn about keyboard shortcuts. The class is free.

• Social Networking, May 30 – The class will provide a demonstration of Facebook and blogging – two of the most common forms of social networking. Cost is $5.

The program is offered by the library as part of the Pennsylvania Library Association’s statewide initiative, PA Forward.
