J-M senior honored
Clarksville Lions Club has selected Erin Confortini as its Student of the Month for May.
Confortini, daughter of Sharon and Dean Confortini of Mather, is a senior at Jefferson-Morgan High School, where she maintains a 4.34 grade-point average.
She also has received the AP Scholar Award, the American Legion Scholarship Award and the George Eastman Young Leaders Award. She was awarded the Tri-Cada female scholarship and a WPIAL scholarship.
A three-year member of the National Honor Society, Confortini served as committee chairwoman for the organization’s participation in the Catholic Charities Angel Tree program. As Leo Club vice president, she organized a book donation service project.
Confortini serves as senior class president and drama club president. She is a member of the Academic League, debate team, Interact Club, SADD, Washington Impact AAU team, Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Penn State 4.0 Club.
Confortini is a letterman in basketball, serving as captain in 2015-16, volleyball, serving as captain in 2016 and track and field. In basketball, she was named Freshmen of the Year in 2013 and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2014. She was the Laurel Highlands Basketball All-Tournament MVP.
Confortini is a member of the stage crew, a student director for Jefferson-Morgan plays and is a member of St. Marcellus Church.
During the summer, she is a day camp counselor for Greene County.
In the fall, Confortini plans to attend Robert Morris University, where she was awarded an RMU Merit Scholarship, to study actuarial science.
