WCHS senior wins scholarship
Jeromy Mackey of Waynesburg has been named the recipient of the 27th annual scholarship presented by the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund committee.
Mackey, 18, is a senior at Waynesburg Central High School and plans to attend California University of Pennsylvania to pursue a degree in secondary English education. His parents are Bradley and Kelly Mackey of Waynesburg.
The scholarship is presented each year to a Greene County senior who plans to attend a college, university or trade school. The scholarship is awarded based on grade-point average and a 500-word essay.
Mackey will be presented with the scholarship at the Chamber of Commerce’s general membership networking luncheon May 24 at Waynesburg University’s Benedum Dining Hall.
Mackey also will receive a laptop courtesy of John Frownfelter, owner of PCsquared, to use during his college career.
This year, 29 applications for the scholarship were received.
