Through November, two blocks from the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt are on display in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Wheeling St., Washington. Each block contains eight panels created by people to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones lost to AIDS. This marks the 20th year that blocks from the AIDS quilt have been displayed at the church. The entire quilt was originally displayed in 1987 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Then, it covered an area larger than a football field and included 1,920 panels. Today, the quilt consists of more than 48,000 individual memorial panels.

The Golden Triangle Decorative Painters will meet Sunday at Finleyville I.O.O.F. Hall, 3684 Finleyville-Elrama Road. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with local teachers teaching Make-it, Take-it starting at 10. The business meeting will begin at noon followed by the Christmas lunch and party. Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold a free concert, “Pictures at an Exhibition,” at 7 p.m. Sunday at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall, Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh. Tickets will also be available the day of the performance at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall starting one hour before the concert.

The Mon Valley Coin Club meets at 2 p.m. Sunday at 303 Chamber Plaza, Charleroi. Applications are now being accepted for membership. A 50/50 will be offered and kids prizes to be awarded. For information, call 724-984-6611.

The Oliver Miller Homestead, A 1794 Whiskey Rebellion Site located on Stone Manse Drive in South Park, will celebrate Thanksgiving on the frontier from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The Miller family and their friends will give thanks as a feast is prepared at the outdoor open hearth and bake oven. Guides in 18th-century dress will provide information and discuss the history of the Whiskey Rebellion and demonstrate pioneer crafts. Admission is $2. Registration for Christmas toys from the Canonsburg-Houston Toy Chest will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street. No registration will be accepted after this date and no toys will be given to anyone without a registration form. Applicants must reside in the Canonsburg-Houston area. Required at registration are: welfare/health assistance card and social security numbers of all family members; underemployed income verification (Welfare Department guidelines will be used in determining qualifying incomes); proof of number of children between the ages of infant through 16 years of age. Registered families may pick up their toys between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 9. Toys will be prepackaged for families based on their preregistration forms. The Toy Chest is sponsored by churches in the Canonsburg-Houston area through the Greater Canonsburg-Houston Ministerial Association. The Bentworth Ministerium Community Choir will be singing during the Bentleyville Community Thanksgiving Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 812 Main St., Bentleyville.

The Washington Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Room 104, Courthouse Square. Ron Parry and Glenn Prokopovitch will present “Alaska Travelogue” as the program.

A Kids Rec program will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center, for children 6 to 10 years of age. There is no school on this day so kids are welcome for fun and games with the Parks & Recreation staff. Bring a water bottle and wear gym shoes. Cost is $5 for members and $8 for non-members. West Newton Library will host a children’s parade, “Teddy Bear Sleep Over” Nov. 25. Children must be accompanied by a parent and should bring their favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal. They will march in the “Miracle On Main Street” parade, with line up starting at 4:30 p.m. and the parade starting at 5:15 at Vine Street Park. The children will leave their teddy bear or stuffed animal overnight at the library and return on Sunday at noon to pick up their stuffed animal and see what mischief they got into. St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 601 Boone Ave., Canonsburg, will hold its Christmas Bake Sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 16. Advance orders are being taken for nut, poppy and apricot rolls. To place an order, call 724-743-0231 by Nov. 26.

Brooke Hills Park is selling tickets until Dec. 1, for “31 Days of Tools.” Tickets will be drawn daily through the month of December. Prizes include: Stanley 173 pc SAE/Metric Auto, Black and Decker 20v Drill/Wireless Speaker set, and 10 gallon shop vac. Other prizes include tools from Dewalt, Kobalt, Porter, Schumaker, Stanley, Ebco, Dremel and more. Tickets are $10 each and benefit the Brooke High School Band.
